Credit card transaction

Hi all
I have a php script which sends emails/newsletter to members for a price. Till now, the payments were made by cash or check. But now we want to upgrade the system to handle credit cards.
Can anybody help what should be done. I have no idea about anything. Can somebody tell me what to do from scratch.

Well from scratch is way to large an endeavor, unless you have a lot of time and money. A good solution is to find an outside processor. If you have a merchant account a company like NetBilling works, if you don't have a merchant account there are plenty of 3rd party billing solutions out there.

And about my question,
what i meant to say was

enter all the information submit
->page goes to a Credit card processing(like Linkpoint etc ),then
->returns an output
->control again comes back to my page and i will handle it accordingly

Is that so simple....
