PHP MAIL COM Outlook Working Is Not

Hi,

Subject says it all. Trying to send a simple email from PHP on Windows NT. Tried the mail() function first and then the bit of code below I found on the Web.

Nothing works, bit stuck, please help.

(Probably worth mentioning it all works fine from Perl Win32, which adds to the mystery.)

The Windows implementation of mail() differs in many ways from the Unix implementation. First, it doesn't use a local binary for composing messages but only operates on direct sockets which means a MTA is needed listening on a network socket (which can either on the localhost or a remote machine). Second, the custom headers like From:, Cc:, Bcc: and Date: are not interpreted by the MTA in the first place, but are parsed by PHP. PHP < 4.3 only supported the Cc: header element (and was case-sensitive). PHP >= 4.3 supports all the mentioned header elements and is no longer case-sensitive.

Most host don't like giving access to SMTP, so that's my first guess.

Did you check the php.ini, specially:

sendmail_path <- did you move to a *nix platform?
sendmail_from
SMTP <- or still Windows based?

You running your own mail server? Many ISP filter out mail sent directly from a dynamic IP. AOL and MSN are know for doing this.

Those are a few thoughts, did they help?
