PHP and image-resizing.

Hi there

Can PHP actually "physically" resize images and lower their resolution (to 72 dpi)?

If not, what do i need to do this via a webpage?

i dont know that much about php but all pictures on a monitor are 72dpi. I'm pretty sure you can resize an image by defining to width and height.
hope i am on the right tracks of wot you are after.

Not even close.

I know about the "height=n" and "width=n" in html (d'uh), but I want to physically change the size of the picture that is lying on the server.

For instance, i want to make page that checks a folder for any pictures that are larger than 50 pixles in width or height, and then copy that picture to a different folder, while changing the original one down to 50 pxl in width or height, and moving it off to its rightful place.

Is it possible to resize images with php?

I think the commands your looking for might be:

imagecopyresampled

imagecopyresized

With a lillte math you could probably write a function to do dpi. You'll need to install the GD Libray:

GD Library

Installing the GD Library maybe a hit or miss proposition depending on your build of PHP.
