a href variable change for include

I have a page template that is mostly made of table and in the middle of one of them I have an include statement to change the content out. I have it working with a variable but... I can not get that variable to change and then reload the page appropriately from a link.

this is the way it needs to be:

$Content = "./Queries/ViewLogs.php"; 
?>
<a href="home.php"> 

<table> 
<tr><td> 
<? include ($Content) ?> 
</td></tr> 
</table>

not sure why you had the var in the link, but unless you are wanting the link to include what you set the var to, it doesnt need to be there.

I had that example working already as a test... but I want other kinks to CHANGE the variable "$Content" The first page looks great, it's setup like you described... but I want the link to change the variable, thus changing the included content. thanks,

Ok, I think i see what you are saying

on page 2 you want the link to be something else?? please tell me exactly how you are looking to change the link/var. I have a feeling I see where you are going, but want to be sure.

Thanks for the quick responses!

I have a page that Loads, looks very pretty etc.
It has a set of links on the left and a content section in the middle of the screen. The content section is loaded from and include statement that calls a variable "$Content" $Content is always a relative path to the file to include. When someone clicks on one of the navigation links, I want the page to reload but with $Content set to something relative to the naviagtion link on the left which in turn loads the same page with a different include in the content section.

I really don't want to use frames.
Should I be looking at passing the variable through the URL?

well yes and no. you could use url vars, but not with a include. What you need to do is have a second var that has your "target content" for instance

page.php?info=index
you cant use that in a include, how ever you could do this
$info = "index"
then include your page. now also you could make a header navbar and footer page, then when someone clicks it takes them to the new page just like a non php link would do, then you include in your header, navbar and footer, around your content. Clear as mud??? 😉

I'll try the URL solution with a middle variable thanks... I understand the other solution you mentioned about a header footer etc... but I am so far down this path and determined to make it work I'd be dissapointed to give it up.

passed information in the URL...

made the include relative to that information

include ("$url[query]");
