How To "TIMEOUT"

I have a page that gathers an electronic signature with a topaz siganture capture device. Everything works great. The only problem is that once the client "signs" an employee must press a submit button to save the signature to s MySQL backend.

I want to ensure that the employee hits the submit button within X amount of time of the page being displayed, or play a noise or java alert to remind the Employee to press submit.

Any suggestions?

Can I do this with PHP or will I have to use javascript?

Javascript. PHP can't control what happens on the browser except for what's already in the http response.
