Hi, I just started working in a company, which URLs are like this:
http://www.mysite.com/category1.php?Cookie=49qSWK7dUhRoQ.1037915005&Catagory=systems&first=Computers&qtr=no&qutr=no
Management wants me to make this URLs search engine friendly. I read about the use of FORCETYPE and MOD_REWRITE, and decided that I will go with ForceType, since I do not have access to the Apache Server.
As you can see, the previous programmer decided to pass the cookie value thru the URL. This is being used all over the website. The Cookie always has a dot in the middle of its value.
I do not know if this dot will have an effect on the search engines, when I create URLs like this:
http://www.mysite.com/category1.php/Cookie/49qSWK7dUhR52312Q.1037915005/Catagory/systems/first/Computers/qtr/no/qutr/no
The question is: Is it ok to create URLs like this? Would they be crawled by Search Engines without a problem?
Any Help will be really appreciated.
I am supposed to finish this by mid December. 🙁
