Images to MySQL using PHP

First off ... I am about to kill myself. I have been working on this for 2 straight days.

I have a form (simple eh?) where a person fills out 2 or 3 fields and has the option to upload an image with it. When this data is submitted it is given an id in the DB via an auto_increment field.

For the life of me I cannot figure out how to:

have the image upload to a DIR and assign it's filename to this record in the DB (id)
insert the binary data in the DB in a blob (field)
do more than 1 image.

i am seriously at my wits end.

I've talked about uploading multiple files at length in this thread, check it out: http://www.phpbuilder.com/board/showthread.php?s=&postid=10254665#post10254665. Here is another useful link: move_uploaded_file.

As far as actually loading it into a blob field, I'm not really sure how you would do that. I've never seen the advantage of loading binary into the db as opposed to just putting it in a dir. You're going to bog down your DB if you're loading and transferring a lot of binary to it.

Anyway, check out those links and post any more questions you have after reading through them.

but I don't see anything about entering the names into SQL with the id of the rest of the input.

Still haven't figured this one out guys.

I don't care if I enter them as Blobs or just the filenames. I can't get it to take the form info, upload image, and store image/image name.
