Apache Alias Q.

Have any of you been able to alias a directory outside the root directory of Apache? I'm trying to do so but when I restart Apache, it is still looking for the alias directory in the root directory of Apache.
Any help is apreciated.

Are you doing something like this? ( you may also need mod_alias enabled)

Alias /image /ftp/pub/image

How I use it:

<VirtualHost *>
ServerName www
ServerAlias www.[url]www.com[/url]
ServerAdmin [e-mail]
DocumentRoot /home/httpd/html
User www
Group www
Alias /image /ftp/pub/image
CustomLog /home/httpd/html/log/access_log combined
ErrorLog /home/httpd/html/log/error_log
</VirtualHost>
