basics:

use the sql LIMIT statment

LIMIT $start_offset,$num_of_records

on the php side you need to know this info

1) how many pages total
2) where to start from
3) how many to pull

you do 1) with a

select counr(*) from table

you must pass 2) and 3) along in a get request

each page recieves 2) and 3) calculates 1) then pulls out the results... and displays them

does that make sense

  $pages = ceil($records / $records_per_page);

  $from_record = ($cur_page-1) * $records_per_page; 
  $res = mysql_query("select * from yourtable limit $from_record,$records_per_page");
