Help with a Query to count results - please help me ....

I have a sql database that has a replys to a questionaire, stored in it.

Each answer has 3 options and the different results are stored in the a row.

Can any1 point me in the right direction to count the number of same answers in the row and return a numeric value to display in a table.

E.g The row in the db looks like this

Home
Work
Home
Home
Both
Both

And I want to return

Home = 3
Work = 1
Both = 2

Im really new to sql and php so any help would be appretiated. cheers

Hi,

I must admit: I have not done this before, but something along the lines of:

$query = "SELECT answer, count(answer) as number FROM questionnair GROUP BY answer";

$results = mysql_query($query);
  while($row =@ mysql_fetch_array($Results))
    {
    $body .="$row[answer] $row[number]<br>";
    }

echo $body;

should egt you started.
