saving vars to .txt file

Greetings PHP gurus. I searched the site for simple "save" scripts but found none. I am building a software in Flash and was thinking of using PHP to save my VAR info to a text file. Any suggestions or, more to the point, tutorials you can send me to? I appreciate any help you have to offer.

search zend.com or hotscripts.com for a script to manage "config files" with PHP. you'll find a script... I remember seeing it at one of those two sites. hmmm and Smarty comes with one, too.
