HELP, explode, implode, and more!!

Hi.

Here is the string i have

$prepurchasechoice = "n&n&n&n&n&n&"

i am retrieving it from a table

I want to change the third occurance of "n" to a "y"

i explode the string:

$purchase = explode("&", $prepurchasechoice);

now, im lost, help please 🙂

if you always know that the "n" you want to change will be in the 3rd position:

$prepurchasechoice = 'n&n&n&n&n&n&';
$purchase = explode('&', $prepurchasechoice);
$purchase[2] = 'y';
$prepurchasechoice = implode ('&', $purchase);

thanks devinemke but you hit the nail on the head, I will NOT always know what postition i need to edit....

// Remove the trailing "&" so that explode is happier
$prepurchasechoice = trim($prepurchasechoice, "&");

$purchase = explode("&", $prepurchasechoice);

// Change the third "n" to a "y"
$purchase[2] = "y";

// Put it back together
$output = implode ("&", $purchase);

// Add that final "&" back on
$finaloutput = $output . "&";

I did the bit with the final ampersand just incase you need to do something like a foreach, you will get the results you expect.

thanks guys for the post, i just replaced the [2] with a string that knows the position i need [$i].

All is working fine now. thanks again
