I would like to have a few text fields on a webpage. When you click a button I want to save the information somewhere and then e-mail that saved informaiton to someone else. How would I go about doing that

Try using the mail() function. That is a cool function that php.net really tells a good story about. Use your imagination and you can make an entire mailing app out of it!

You can save to file or DB. I would have to say it depends on the amount of data you will be saving.
If you want to go the way of big sites, go with db. Save form info as well as maybe a time stamp, IP address or some other user identifier (session and vars).
