is there a way to echo php code

I want to echo some php code that is in the database so that it will run. The reason for this is I want some pages to be static and just pull the info from the database but some pages need to be able to run some code

The term "echo" is something different in PHP... echo outputs something to the browser.

The function you're looking for is eval() .

Does that I mean the static text that is just text or html code I have to make it php code.

Is there a way to tell which kind is in the database so that if it is just text/html it will echo it and if it is php it will use the eval

Well, there's no easy way to do it. You could always just eval everything, and use a @ to suppress the errors. Or, you could do some checking... like check for the existence of <?php ?> or something.

Why are you trying to do this? There is a potential huge security hole if you are allowing people to enter text into the db... and then running eval() on it.

I am using the page.php?page=#

I pass page.php the # of the page I want to display like:

Home = 1
Registered Users = 2
etc...

This way I only have one page and I can update any pages I want in the database

Hmm, why not use includes? Why are you wanting to eval something from a db?

Something like this:


if ($page == "1") { 
include("path/to/code_for_page1.php");
}
elseif ($page == "2") { 
include("path/to/code_for_page2.php");
}
else {
include("path/to/default_page.php");
}

That is basically what I was doing for the pages that are php code. I was just curious if there was an easier way

So when you click one of the links with a page # it would load a url address?

That is the error I get...Here is what I used just to see if it would work. It gave the same thing if I put 10 in ""

You have to send the headers before sending anything else to the browser. I'm guessing you're echoing, or including something before the header statement. The error you're getting indicates that you've sent something to the browser, and therefore cannot send the headers.
