ok what if anything do you use for uml modeling for php?

i was just playing with the dia uml modeler and stumbled upon a sourceforge project dia2code...

takes the uml diagram infro and creates skeleton php code out of it...

im just playing with this now and was just hoping to inform the community of what i think this is a coolio thing..

wondering if anyone else out there had any experiences with this specific program...

Unified Modeling Language

There is a great explanation of it here. Think of it as a way to design an application without using any language. The great thing is, it allows non-programmers to collaborate and understand an application's inner workings without knowing anything about the language it's written in.

people figured out a while ago all the commonness between the object oriented languages... they all use a subset of a finite number of features... so uml lets you draw diagrams of you object oriented classes and then if you can find a code generator... it will write out your class as well as your functions... it doesn't say what they do... but it leaves you skeleton code.... makes developing faster.... theoretically

i kinda wanted to make this post a poll
about which uml modelere people use... but i only know of that one...

so any more info on php and uml would be interesting to me

I've been using DIA. I haven't tried anything else in about 10 months, so I really don't know what's out there. I'll have to check out the app you linked to.

The great thing about UML is that you can model just about anything -- not just programming. You can model a company procedure, how to perform maintenance on a car, even how to make a peanut butter sandwich. It's pretty powerful if you know how to use it.

I was looking for a tool like this a few weeks ago, and ended up settling for ArgoUML - it is build in Java and only produces JavaCode (as far as i know).

I was actually looking for a tool that can create XMI docs from diagrams, as XMI2PHP from PHPedit convert them to PHP skeletons.

dia2code works fine on my mandrake install

but i can't seem to make it work on my XP
