replace <br> with an image

Maybe one of you can help..

The usual form entry into db CMS project - however, I need to replace each new line in one of my fields with a break AND an image (graphical bullet point).

I know about nl2br() ,

$content = nl2br($content);

but obviously that's not gonna add the bullet point..

Any ideas?
