session.auto_start is enabled

I'm trying to DISABLE "session.auto_start" via the .htaccess file. Does anyone know the corect syntax to be entered in the .htaccess file. And what directory to put it in. My Hositng company said cgi/bin? I'm not sure of php version. They my web host uses phpMyAdmin 2.2.6.

I dunno about the session.autostart syntax, but .htaccess goes in your website directory root. cgi/bin/ seems an unlikely place for that.

Yes you are correct. i did find a .htaccess file in my web root and that was the one I was working with. i called my web host and the guy was telling me that it went in the cgi/bin folder....they dont seem to know anymore than i do....Thanks for input.
