strings and circular shift

Sorry again , another question about string , especially regarding circular shifts , I cannot find an answer on php web site .

the problem is the following ..

If $oldpassword="test"

the $newpassword must no accept or contain
a circular shift of $oldpassword

and so on ...

any idea to check this ? Thanks

If $attempt is the password you're trying to test, and $test is the word you're trying to test against (i.e., if you're trying to see if $attempt is a circular shift of $test):

if(strlen($attempt)==strlen($test) && strpos($test.test,$attempt)!==false)
{ circular shift detected
}

there should be a problem in fact

$test = "test";
$attempt = "tset";
$result = strpos($test.test,$attempt);
echo "result = $result";

returns nothing ...

Yep: $test.$test, $attempt

$test = 'headache';
$attempt = 'adachehe'

$test.$test = 'he[color=darkblue]adachehe[/color]adache';
$attempt =      'adachehe';

Well, no ... 'tset' is not a circular permutation of 'test' ... Circular permutations of 'test' are:
