Well, I have Linux Mandrake 9.0 installed and I am in need of recompiling because this standard version does not have bcmath enabled or the xml parser package either. I do believe that I need to run the ./configure command with the appropriate flags and then run the make install command.
Here is my problem. Do I have to uninstall my previous version? If so, then when i reinstall it, will it matter where I put it?
If I don't have to uninstall it, that is much better for me. What flags should I use when I configure the install? I want to have all the packages that might be sueful someday, I really don't want to have to recompile again.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
