microtime NOT ACCURATE!

hi, i have a script that executes an executable.. the script is supposed to time the whole thing but it does not do that correctly...

for example, the php script may say that it has taken 2 sec....

while the C program also measures taken time, it may report 3 secs..... longer than the script reports...

perhaps the time and microtime functions (in php) are only reporting used processing-time (for the script)?

i trust the c function for time but i do not trust the microtime function, not after examining the reported times...

any ideas or similar experiences?

My understanding is that time() and microtime() report wall time - and the accuracy of the latter in particular is very dependent on OS. There are other comments on the microtime manual page.
