Paging Problem

as you can see from the example adress...I have a problem of showing this page.

Whenever I click on a next page or previous it goes to the page I am on. Means I go no where.

I use a sript almost the same one which is published on this site.
But as you know that scripts..... a href=\"$PHP_SELF?offset=$prevoffset\">PREV</a> .......uses Like that.

My problem is ....show_cat.php?catid=1 ... here ... catid=1 ....is written by the PHP code and in other script ....start=2 is.... written...

I know if it was like ... show_cat.php?start=1 ....seems no problem

Does anybody know how to overcome this...How can I page my result under catagories..It suppose to be something like

Chosee from catagories ....(fruit,vegetable,meat) (main catagory)
lets choose ---fruit (subcatagory)
must show 5 results 0 apple
for each page for fruits 0 banana
0 cherry
0 strawberry
0 graps

Don't you mean:-
http://www.xxxx.com/show_cat.php?catid=1&start=2

replace the second ? with &

That's the first thing. If you still need page navigation, let me know as I've just written one and it works fine.

Dear PaulG I made that before and it didnt work again...My problem is I think defining global variables or something else that I dont know..

I am making a e-catalogue with subcatagories in example I got a simple shoping car script from a PHP book..But it has no paging property.

Then I decide to add one..But in that script at the INDEX page shows the names of catagories with a link to the related catagory which is taken from DB.

You will not believe but just after I reply your answer I found the solution. Look. My actual problem was I not taking the query results from DB but from an array...
There for I wrote my own script coz all the SCRIPTS written are for the ones who take their answers from a database query..

And I must say that my way is easier than others and can be used as a function for any page.Else for every page you must use the script and connect to database again and again...

Let me tell you what I made wrong look how funny it is..

for ($k=$offset;$k<=$limit-1;$k++)

here as you know $limit is how many results per page I choose for mine 3

$offset =0 at the beginning and increase +3 every time you sclick on next button ok ...

But when I do something like that as you see since $offset;$k<=$limit-1 it always turn the same result for any page because at the first it is from 0 to 3 later when $offset=3 it will be like from 3 to 3 again...Got it !!!!!!!! I FORGOT to change $limit-1 to $limit+$offset-1 How I am stupid... So when I chanegd it like that when $Offset=3 the range will be from 3 to 6 and the result betwwen 3 and 6 will be shown...
