A little help with grouping a report?

Hi There, I was wondering if someone could give me a hand with the following report in php/oracle as my head is starting to bleed!

i pull the data that i want from oracle in this order

despatch date, product, ordernumber, quantity

so that would produce a table like ;

Date Product Order No. Qty
28/11/02 Product1 33313 25
28/11/02 Product1 22211 15
28/11/02 Product2 38787 5
29/11/02 Product1 17171 8

okay easy so far.... now i need to group the products if more than 1 of the same product is ordered on the same day and then total these i.e.

Date Product Order No. Qty
28/11/02 Product1 33313 25

28/11/02 Product1 22211 15

Total for product1 on 28/11/02 = 40

28/11/02 Product2 38787 5

Total for all product on 28/11/02 = 45

29/11/02 Product1 17171 8

Total for all product on 29/11/02 = 8

Please can some one help me with something as it's driving me mad!!!!

The SQL should be something like:

SELECT date, product, orderno, qty
FROM yourtable
ORDER BY date, product

Then in PHP you will need to process each record something like this:

while (read record) // read the record into vars named $read_??

if ($stored_date != $read_date) // if we are on new date
write totals // first time should write this blank
$stored_date = $read_date
else
if ($stored_product != $read_product) // if on new product
write totals
else
write record
$total = $total + $qty
end
write record
$total = $total + $qty
end if
end while
