Connecting - 1 on 1

Hi all

Please can someone explain to me, how to connect a MS SQL 2000 server sitting on one box and my webserver (ISS5) sitting on another box through a php script.... in a win32 platform/ enviroment.

My configuration in my php.ini is working perfectly, when both sit in the same box....its the connection that Im having a problem with through my network, to connect to my MS SQL DB 2000 and webserver.

Is there something that I need to configure in the MS SQL network utility?

Now i may sound like an idiot but i dont use MSSQL database

so my answer would be..

You may need an ODBC connection first.. You should really read the MSSQL manual.. But thats what i think you may need.. like i said i dont know anything about MSSQL Db's

Here is a little Tutorial for those who want to connect over a network to a MS SQL 2000 on win32 platform to query thier database
(I have learnt the hard way, with many hours search the net for answers)

1. Make sure you have configured your php.ini
   -uncheck you extention = php_mssql.dll
   -Make sure you have set your exention directory points 2 your
   directory i.e. extension_dir = C:\PHP\extensions
2. Load your ntwdblib.dll (MS SQL 2000 client utillity) under the
   root folder of windows.
3. On your client that is hosting your websever, install MS SQL
   client network utilties.
   • configure your host under the alias tab to point to your
     SQL servers hostname, and the port to listen for.(I change mine
     to 2433)...works great 😃
4. You got them connected! 😃 😃 😃
5. If you have problems, search this page . It helped me out loads
