Using Post Data On Two Pages

I want to submit a form by POST in "register.php" and have the form data processed by register.php, then redirect the browser AND the POST data to "print.php" where the same form data will be processed differently. The METHOD of the form tag will thus be "register.php", but when the user submits the form, the next URL in the browser window will be print.php, with the form data from register.php already processed. Does anybody know how to do this? I'm aware of fsockopen, but connecting to print.php with a socket connection in register.php will still leave the browser in register.php. On the other hand, if you use the header("location:"), you will wind up in print.php, but without the form data.

You could pass the processed information on to print.php in the url of ("location:")

This would be a GET method of passing data. However, I dont want the data to show up in the URL, so I would like to be able to use the POST method. What I'm asking is how to have a form with,

action=first_page

have that form data processed by first_page, then pass the same form data to a second page via POST and have the url of the second page appear in the browser window as if the action on the first page had been,

action=second_page.

Have register.php store the data in session variables.

At the end of register.php, redirect to print.php.

At the start of print.php, fish that session data out again, and do stuff with it.

Yes, session variables will work too. But what I am interested in is taking form data that is submitted via POST to one page, capturing it and then sending it to another page via POST. I know how to do a socket connection between two pages; with that tactic you can send POST data to another page, have that page execute and produce output based on that POST data, and return it to the first page. However, the browser remains on the first page. I want to send POST data to a second page as if it were the ACTION attribute in the form on the first page, so that the next url for the browser is the second page.

Um, okay, if that's what you want to do.

Open a socket connection to the second page, make the POST, then redirect the browser to the second page. The browser will request the second page without any data, but that's okay, because you just made a request that did have it.

Needless to say, there's no inherent reason why the two pages have to be the same.

But why do you want to do this, anyway? Why not just submit to print.php, which, before doing its own thing, opens a socket connection to register.php and POSTs? Both pages will do their thing in the right order, and the browser will end up on the right page.

I want to do it this way because I have a function in an accompanying "functions.php" that both pages call. That function expects $_POST data in order to do its work, which is to produce the page that the user entered. The difference in the pages is that print.php doesnt have the fancy graphics of register.php. So are you saying to redirect the browser after posting the data while still within the socket connection? Do you have an example?

I'm lost. If register.php is the one with the fancy graphics, and print.php doesn't, why do you particularly need "print.php" to be the result in the browser?

You could just the action of the original form be action=second_page.

second_page retrieves the POSTed data, opens a socket connection to first_page, and POSTs the data to it, and retrieves the response. Then closes the socket.

second_page then does its own processing.

And then spits what it retrieved from first_page (the fancy stuff produced by register.php) back out to the browser.

It seems like an awfully complicated way of going about it, just to have "print.php" displayed in the browser instead of "register.php".
