How do I update a TABLE with another COLUMN?

Hi,
I want to put in another column into my table.. How do I do that? something like this?..

UPDATE table login WITH VALUES (
password varchar(16) NOT NULL
);

... ?? But that doesn't work.... somebody that can help me????
