Get img from db, then scale & show

I store my images in a MySQL database. I want to get an image from my database, automaticly scale it to preset proportions 120 by X pixels and then, duh, show it to ya'll...

I do know howto scale images located on my server, thats an easy job with GD. But from a database? Don't know that...

I have been looking for tutz and info about it but didn't find any yet! 😕

Until now I just stored text/asci data in a db, never binaries/images...

If I understand your question correctly, the answer is in simple HTML.

HTML:
<img src="blah.jpg" height="120" width="120">

There is a way to do it in CSS too, but I don't remember what that is off the top of my head.

I think he doesn't mean static resizing! That wouldn't be a problem....😃

He wants to rezise the image he is pulling from his db dynamically so it will be send to the Browser just the right size (not only its scale but also its file size!).

If I'm understanding this correctly, you want to width to always be 120 (or vice versa) and the height has to conform? Sounds like it can be done with math.

Get the image's size using the comment here:

http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.imagesx.php

Then do 120 divided by the images width, unless the image is smaller than 120 pixels wide it'll be a decimal figure. Multiply that decimal times the height and you should have your X.

Nope, can't do that because there is no file to point to and most scripts require something like "$filename=imagepath;".

The filetype is stored in a varchar db record and the content in a BLOB db record.

Output the data from the DB to a temp file? You got the data into the database, I assume you can reverse it?

Let me know. I don't even know how to get data like that into a DB. I'm just throwing things out there.
