Backlight

Hi, I am making a web page, and i want that the "backlight" when the user hover the mouse over a table to change acording to their IP, now findign different IP's is simple.
But I have no idea how to make the backlight... I have seen this been done, and I feel like a total newb..

How many IP's are we talking about filtering here ? I am i right in assuming you mean using CSS as a backhighlight on mouse over ?

Could you not just use for example :

if ($ip = 192.168.x.x)... then : $highlightbg = "CC0000";.. and then use that variable in your CSS.. Depends on how big of a scale you are talking about here otherwise you end up with alot of elseif () functions being used so it might be worth trying to use a MySQL db with IP prefs in it if its a large scale IE :

SELECT bg_color FROM tablename WHERE ip = "$ip" and then use the BG color in your CSS ??

Yeah, I mean css mouse over, well, I will probably filter the most popular ISP's here in Norway, and place anyother In a random,
like this pseudo code:
$ip = Get_IP;
$where = GetBase ($ip);
switch $where
{
case 192
$color = "blue";
}

On_mouse_over(color=$color);

Man Im tierd, so i dont know if that made sence, hehe. But do you understand?

Yeah i understand what you mean.. if your using a few different ISP's i presume you arent gonig to do it by a PER IP basis otherwise you would have hundreds of thousands of IP's from each ISP's IP pools to filter.. are you not better doing this on a per ISP ip range scale ? rather than individual IP's ?

Hmm, you are right, I better use a PER Isp ip range.. but this backlight thing? how do I do that?

I would try and intergrate a DB into this rather than using a "case" switch otherwise it would go on for a long time and the script excecution time would lag a bit hehe read my first reply to your post and try to work along the DB use theory.. it shouldnt be that hard to complete.. I would write an example but i am at work and its the end of my shift now so gotta go cya.. Hope ya get it sorted.
