PHP seems to be adding PHPSESSID to the querystring of every link on my website's homepage when a visitor first arrives. On subsequent clicks, the phpsessid goes away (presumably because cookies are then used to track session). Anyway, that initial querystring is a problem for search engines, which aren't crawling my links.

Can anybody tell me how to stop PHP from doing this, short of manually searching $HTTP_USER_AGENT and preventing session use when search engines come a'crawlin'?

most likely you have session_start(); in your code somewhere.. Without session_register();

Actually, I call session_start(), but immediately below that I also call session_register() a few times (for different session variables).

I used to not use session_start() but strange bugs were occuring that simply vanished once i started using it...

Anyway should i stop using session_start? Or is it a moot point since i use session_register (which you did not suspect?)
