Sort by date, every twenty entries...

I have a catalog of many entries that contain a variety of titles and a variety of dates.

I want to display only the titles and sort them by the latest dates and only display twenty per page.

Valentines //(2002)
New Years //(2002)
Christmas //(2002)
Valentines //(2001)
New Years //(2001)
...
...
next 20 >>

I haven't seen how to sort and I don't know how to display entries by X-Number per Page

My date format is YYYY-MM-DD, MySQL and PHP are the languages

Any help is greatly aprreciated

Ok, I minimum amount of research at mysql.com got me to the:

SELECT x, y FROM db ORDER BY y DESC

But now how do I only get 20 per page over multiple pages?

Use a limit in your sql query. Here is a query I use for pretty much the same thing:

$SQL = " SELECT * FROM tablename ";
$SQL = $SQL . " ORDER by id desc ";
$SQL = $SQL . " LIMIT $begin,5 ";

I pass $begin in the url. It grabs 5 per page, and further down generates a link like this: <a href="/?begin=5">Next >></a>

I was playing around with the LIMIT option at the end of work today but I didn't see anything at MySQL.com that had the format: [font=courier new]LIMIT int_1, int_2[/font], as the way to mark the begining of the query and range of the query. This is great, thanx again.
