noframes menu page..but in php

ok guys, i have no php experience, except with phpbb moding.
i want a php index page set up like this

i want the menu and top pages to be just one fil;e each, right now i have a menu and top built into the html file with tables, i want the menu to pull up the page on the right, and for it to resemble a noframes page exactly.
how can i do this?

No, you can't just write HTML inside php delimiters. There's two ways of doing it:

<tr> 
<td colspan="2"><?php include('top.htm'); ?></td> 
</tr> 
<tr> 
<td><?php include('left.htm'); ?></td> 
<td><?php include('right.htm'); ?></td> 
</tr> 
</table> 

or

<?php

echo("<table><tr><td colspan="2">");
include('top.htm');
echo("</td></tr><tr><td>");
include('left.htm');
