Is it possible to have a script, with a user name and password input box, and have the values typed in those boxes, reference the .htpasswd of a certain directory? If so, I really need to learn that technique quick, so any suggestions would be great.

You could use fopen to read that contents of the .htpasswd file, but then it'd have to be chmoded to 775 or something, in any case its reducing the level of security.

But as long as a file has the right permissions you can read any file.
