PHP Conference

Just curious if anyone attended the PHPCon 2002 in California, and if anyone is planning on attending the PHPCon East 2003- I read that they are thinking of having it in either New York or Montreal at perhaps the middle or end of March.

For those of you that attended this year's - was it worth it?

I heard from the source that it went over very well. Well enough that they decided on the next one immediately after the last.

Hi Elizabeth,

PHPCon 2002 did indeed go really well. It was fairly small, as tech conferences go, just 150 people -- but everyone had great things to say, attendees and speakers alike, so we are looking forward to doing this again in 2003.

We are in the process of getting the details together for PHPCon East 2003, which is scheduled to be in New York City (Manhattan somewheres) in late April, possibly early May. Fees are not yet set for 2003 but our rates for 2002 were $495 early bird and $595 regular. We also had breaks for students and non-profits. I don't expect anything hideous to happen to the rates between now and when we make formal announcements in a couple of weeks. 🙂

So is the idea at this point to do one con a year, alternating between the east and west coasts? I think it would be cool to see PHPCon hit the road and make a tour of it. Seattle, LA, Denver, NYC, Atlanta...

Some of us have responsibilities that keep us from traveling much, so it would sure be convenient.

Just a thought... 🙂

Ok, I know I'm bumping an old thread, but as many of you know the conference has been scheduled for April 23-25 in New York. I'm really looking for some valuable feedback from the first one so that I can try and convince my employers to shell out the $1600 for registration fees and airfare.

Can anyone shed some light on how attending the first one made them so much more efficient and made their companies oodles of money? 🙂
