Can someone disect the following:

I know what it does and how to use it, but I'm after the meaning of it. I'm just being curious. Just wanna know what everything means.

Well
<a> ... </a> is a tag that define an hypertext link
then href is an attribute, there is some other for <a> tag such as name, target, hreflang...
href specify the type of link (protocol) http, ftp, mailto, news used and the address of the link such as www.blah.com here
