Putting Database variables into a drop down list

How would I go about putting data from my MySql database into a drop down list?

I have a variable named $dir which I want to show up in the drop down, and then another variable named $dir_url, which I want to be the value of each selection.

Just fetch the set of all $dir and $dir_url which you want in the drop-down. Then loop through the set and print out an <option value=$dir_url>$dir</option> for each item in the set.

Well, then what do you know?

Do you have PHP/MySQL setup? Do you know how to connect to the database? Do you know how to select data? Do you know how to use the data? Do you know the basics of programming (sequence, selection, iteration)? Do you know how to iterate through an array? How about a mysql result set? Do you know how to output data? Do you know how to format data with HTML?

You gotta give us something to work with because this is not a forum where people code for you. We're happy to help if you give a specific problem.

(PS If you really do need basic help with stuff like loops, you should ask your questions in the newbies forums since that is what it is there for)
