Creating an index for a join on two or more tables?

There's a great article somewhere here at phpbuilder on creating indices, however, it didn't display an example on how to create an index for a query where you are joining two tables... any insight?

With the query

select ogrish.*,oapiey.*
 from ogrish o1,oapiey o2
where o1.aleb = o2.bleb
and o1.aleb in (47,11)

it could make sense to create the indecies

create index ogix on ogrish(aleb)
create index oaix on oapiey(bleb)

unless the columns are otherwise indexed.

This is what I would figure...

So are you saying that you cannot create an index on multiple tables?

It is supported in some DBMS. Not in Mysql (of course.)
