I am totally new to web design and php. I own a very small business and I am working on the site myself using dreamweave mx. ON this site I want the users to be able to logon with a user and pass and input/edit personal information and have my website save that information. I understand that you need web applications to do so and php is powerful and free. I just started lookiin into it today, but i do have a few questions;
Is what im trying to do possible with php and with a newbie behind the coding?
what all do i need to do? do i need a php application? i read somewher that i could just save my files .php and upload them to the server and the server would take care of the rest, but i still dont understand how it would help me accomplish what i want to.
Where can i go to learn more about what it is that i am tyring to accomplish? or any php information for that matter? i see this site is a wealth of info but it all looks like german to me, lol.
i guess that's all for now if i think of more i'll add later.

btw, the server that i plan on hosting the site on does support php4.
