fsockopen() problem

Hi. I'm trying to open a connection with a server and get some content. However on my local computer the script doesn't work. On my server it works ok.

I guess it's something that i have to enable in the php.ini or move the php_sockets.dll into the right directory?
I tried all i could think of but i had no luck.

Can the company's firewall be the problem?

In Apache's error log it gives me 3 errors per time:

• php_hostconnect: connect failed in ....
• fopen("http://www.yahoo.com/", "r") - Bad file descriptor in ...
• Supplied argument is not a valid File-Handle resource in ...

If i use an error of my own it just times out and prints me the error text that i defined.

What does the code look like near the error that you define? If you post it, maybe we can see what triggers the error.

Try setting error_reporting/COLOR; and see if you get more info.

The script works ok on my web host. It's on my local computer that it doesn't work.
So it's probably some PHP settings i have to change or a dll i have to load.

Please let me know if there are any settings that have to be changed in the php.ini file.
I have loaded the sockets extension but nothing happened.

Make sure you have this line in your php.ini

allow_url_fopen = On

But it's on by default, so...unless you changed it, it should already be on.
