Yahoo-like message board???

Does anyone know of any PHP code which will emulate a single threaded message board similar to that of Yahoo Groups forums? You know, one continuous flow of messages with no splinter threads branching off?

I don't care if it's just skeleton code; I'd love to see it. That would beat starting from scratch and reinventing it.

so what your saying is kinda like this forum. It doesnt have things coming off it.

Forums are complicated things.
I dont think one file of code here to show you will fit in this. As theres a max of chars.

A single file could contain somewhere from 350-500lines of code.

phpbb is SOO bloated if you don't want mad features. if you want something simpler, i find phorum(.org) is a nice simple one. The code isn't the cleanest, but it's a good start and beats building one from scratch if you don't need to. I am about to take on a task to build one from the ground up for a client. That will be a fun project.

Thanks to all for the thoughts. Most of the suggestions do have, as some indicated, a lot of bloated code in an attempt to please everyone with every possible option. I plan on reviewing both phpbb and phorum.org code, then select the 'best of breed' as an example and basis for rewriting my own.
