i have another issue. in my database, i have:

a database named, let's say, gallery that contains a table named photogallery which contains these columns:
id, title, photo, linktofullphoto, numvotes, votes, rating
this table is for rating photos, as you know

i also have a database named login containing a table called user which contains these columns:
id, userid, password, fullname, email, notes
this table is for user authenication, as you know

it seems redundant to have these in two different databases when they are both used on the same site for an interrelated purpose. is it possible to tie these together somehow?

also, users need to be able to earn points by A.visiting the site(1) B. posting pics(5) C. Voting(3)

in one mysql database, one can have nearly 10000 tables. no need to have just 1 table in one database 🙂

No it wont be feasible to have all in one table. keep table for user info, other for photograph info. with username of the person who posted the photo.

this table is for rating photos

here 'publisher' is the userid of the user who uploaded the photo.

DivaX007: think of databases as folders, and tables as files (in case with MySQL they really are). The only limitation is that you can't create subfolders. But no need for "one file in a folder". You rather store all related files in one folder.
