do online freelance projects actually exist ??

Hi Folks (me again),

I've been thinking (well doing what I call thinking anyway..) and wondered whether anyone actuall gets freelance work from those bid websites (freelance coders/programmers)??. Ive been having a wee look around them and it seems they are full of either pretend projects (by new members getting an idea of the type of replies other members write), or bids that are stupidly low (like $50 for a project that would take weeks to code).
Anyone here made any realistic money that originated from these sites, or are they just a big joke and not worth wasting your time on ?

To give you an idea, i have put in sensible bids for hundreds of projects. I have had one response from a dodgy Australian, who refused to give out any details of the project - in case we gave the game away.

I think the problem is, its a lot of people putting in stupid bids like £50 for a 1 week project. Thus completely taking the bottom of the market out for any serious small businesses/freelancers.

And im sure in many cases, where you can post a project for free, its other freelancers, trying to do some research into their competitors.
