MySQL - Getting field names

Hello all 🙂

Is there a query that can return the names of the fields in a particular table? I can extract an associative array and pull the names from there, but is there a way to get only the names?

I've been sifting through the manual and google, although with no luck so far... of course things tend to hide themselves right beneath my nose 🙁

you can use "SHOW COLUMNS FROM tbl_name"

This returns 6 columns -

Field, Type, Null, Key, Default & Extra

Exactly what I was looking for. I'll actually be needing the types of the fields as well so it is more than useful.
