apache php mysql windows - stable versions?

hi,

i tried to install apache2 under win2k with php4.2.3 ... it's a mess!

tried to installt apache 1.3.27 with php4.2.3 - doesnt work eather

well the phpinfo appears ... but the easyest "post" methods
don't work ....

aaaaaahhhhhhhhh

please tell me which versions to use to get a stable reliable system
under win2k

btw - no "use linux!" reply's please! i heard a thousand of them the last two days!

i unintalled everything just a sec ago ...
will have a look on what you suggested next time

i wasted the last two days on that ...

Don't use the all in one crap it will just mess everything up when you find you need to change some setting in PHP. Use the zip file from php.net, and the installation files from Apache and MySQL, they are all very easy to install and come with great instructions for configuration. All in ones are horrible, if I had a dollar for every post on here where a person is having trouble with php/apache because of an all in one, I'd be able to compete with Bill Gates for richest man on the planet.

Personnally, I have Apache 2.0.43, PHP 4.2.3 and MySQL 3.23.49. Everything works fine ! I'm on Windows 2000. I also had problems to install PHP With Apache, but I found this :

1. Download:
a. Apache: apache_2.0.43-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi
b. PHP: php-4.2.3-Win32.zip
c. Latest PHP Snap: http://snaps.php.net/win32/php4-win32-STABLE-latest.zip
2. Install
a. apache
b. PHP (by upzipping and renaming dir to "c:\php"
2. Copy c:\php\php.ini-recommended to c:\windows\php.ini
3. Edit c:\php.ini
-doc_root = [current apache doc root]
-extension_dir = C:\php\extensions
4. Copy c:\php\php4ts.dll to c:\winnt\system32\
4. Copy php4apache2.dll from the c. Snap zip file to c:\php\sapi\
6. Edit Apache's configuration file and add:
LoadModule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache2.dll
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php

I was sure to have done the same thing, but it worked ! So try to do this, and maybe it will work !

@ - i totaly agree with you - but sometimes i am thinking it would be easyer to use these all in one packages ... you get results so quick .. ok you don't know what happend .. but in many cases it works

anyway .. i will try the other way 🙂

i installed everything again (as suntra suggested) and it works!
one change: i used the php4ts.dll from the STABLE~.zip (otherwise apache did not start)

@@6deex - i read some online-stuff and understood a bit more 🙂
