Checking PHP info without parsing phpinfo()

There is data that I would like to acquire about the php environment without parsing phpinfo(). For instance, is safe mode on? Are globals on? Is Zend Optimizer installed?

Are these stored inside any special system variable?

You can use ini_get/COLOR; for instance:

if (ini_get("register_globals") || ini_get("safe_mode"))

With phpinfo/COLOR, you can also specify some predefined constants to get certain parts of a configuration, for modules try phpinfo/COLOR; ....
or on the command line `php -m'
