requesting file?

This maybe a dumb question and I know I'm going to say "duh" when I hear the answer, but....

I know that you can get the requested url by using $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] but is there a way to just check what the requesting file is?

such as is the url is www.yahoo.com/hello.php

And I want to see if the referring file is hello.php, how would I do that?

$_SERVER['HTTP_REFERRER']

will tell you the referred - it's not suppose to be 100% reliable but seems to work pretty well. you can read through the php manual on global variables as well and may find a few pointers. If you run php_info() you can also see a lot of globals available to you.

Use the basename function:

basename($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']);
