I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good book on PHP? I'm looking for something thats pretty straight forward and gives me a good understanding of the code.

Although ive never used a book to teach myself. I think Javascript should be what i need. But anyway.

Wrox is good.

The book advertised on SitePoint is really good from what i saw in the 1st four chapters.

Being yourself i wouldnt buy a book unless you can understand what they are saying. So research the books that get suggested.

Yeah the wrox books - Wrock

To start off with try the beginning php from them - its well written and easy to follow

From my own experience, I can tell you that I've learned everything from reading the PHP Bible. The book with the yellow cover. I've also read a lot online at php.net since everything you need to know is there.

I just picked up PHP for dummies but haven't had the chance to read it yet. Has anyone read this book?
