Log usernames

Hi all!

I need a script that logs the usernames ( to a sql db) of the visitors on my site. The usernames are given by $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_USER']

Then I want the script to show the usernames that have been active in the 300 last seconds.

Can any of you guys help me get started?

How can I only show the one's that are online?

It would be nice with some real help instead of redirections to resources with single fragments of information.

Redirections to resources are real help - and more useful and informative ones than just whacking out some code for you to mindlessly cut and paste.

Some of us have better things to do than just repeat the same old information over and over and over again - we've got machines for doing that these days. Try going here and asking for stuff about "users online".
