error 1036 and error 61

i am new to unix. so here is what i did

i backuped my files from windows xp to a cd. went on unix and mounted the cd and copied the database including my whole site files to there corresponding directories. after this i kept getting "error 1036: table "user" is read only". i tried everything to fix this....so i thought lets reboot, works on windows...(windows sucks) anyways i got this error after i rebooted

I am not an expert, but believe that the issue is related to "copying" your CD. When you copy from a CD the files are all read only. When you put them via copy and the structure of your directories from windows (a guess) on to your unix machine they are still in read only mode.

I believe you will have to research the unix command chmod to set those to the appropriate access values. If I recall correctly 777 is wide open to all so be sure of how you set the permissions.

what about the sock file duh. i check it and it is empty.
