First of all my apologies if this question has already been asked lots of times but I have spent the best part of day searching for an answer but haven't managed to find one.
My question: Is it possible to use PHP with MSSQL7 on a windows 98 or Server 2000 platform without using ODBC.
If it is, please can someone point me in the direction of a clear set of guidelines that a newbie like me can follow.

The reason for wanting MSSQL is that I am finding MySQL to be very unreliable on a win98 platform. I know win98 ain't exactly stable, but I've never experienced the corrupted tables and damaged data with MSSQL that I'm getting with MySQL.
