Regular expressions for address

what regular expression would i use for an address in this format

25 Bristol Road
Bristol
BR11 1HB

i can do the post code but iam having problems with the first and second line, because you dont know how long the first number might be, if there is a number, then you dont know how long the road name will be and where the next space goes, or what comes after if such as street, road or what ever.

can anyone shed some light?

Could be hairy indeed. I mean, the first line could be

^(\d+(/\d+)?)\s+([\s\w]+)\s+([\w.]+)$

Where the first part is the number (possibly including a flat), the middle part is the name, and the last part is the Rd. or Road or whatever.
The second line would appear to be just text (possibly containing spaces).

But it should be a trivial task to come up with a genuine address that fails that first line.
