how to write a redirection code based on users location on world?

I would like to write a code to redirect users from specific countries to different url's on my website. How would I go about doing this?

Ok this is tricky but possible.
This is the way I would go about doing it.

1) Retrive users IP address
2) use a whois and get information about the users location
3) Redirct them using header("location:$country");

This is a good idea and a bad idea, it is quite possible. But there are so many isps out there that you really can't be sure of which country or location a user is in. It might be better to let the user select which area he is in.

I think the way I laid it out is the only way you could do it. It will work. But is very tricky and complicated. It is a great challenge though.

Or you could just have a map or a drop-down box where the users can select their country . . . and then direct them to the right page . . .

Buy.com used to have a thing like that on their main page.
